Good Monday and welcome to the first installment of the The Fyffe Life a weekly(-ish – give or take) newsletter on the comings, goings, and passing thoughts of me, Emma Fyffe, a person whose job necessitates being extremely online. Which feels hard and confusing amidst the downfall of social media, the space in which my career largely took shape. But increasing frustrations with Twitter, a platform once equally useful both for letting folks know what you’re up to professionally and for entertaining the masses with dumb jokes (something akin to what the kids call '“shitposting”), borderline disdain for Instagram and a lack of direction on TikTok has lead me here. Direct to your inbox. Sharing the ins, outs and what I’m up to’s of my bizarre internet based existence.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Spoiler Review on Fandom Entertainment
Join Danielle Radford and me for an in depth spoiler discussion of director Ryan Coogler’s latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. PREVIEW: I though the story was bloated but the performances and the emotional beats of the film were some of the best Marvel Studios has ever delivered.
*time subject to change - this is one of the drawbacks of the newsletter vs Twitter which is more suited to real time adjustments

Andor Season 1, Episode 11 Spoiler Review on Fandom Entertainment
It’s the penultimate episode of Andor, a show that’s making a hard play for my ‘Best Shows of 2022’ list. I think it’s basically a shoo-in for a spot in the Top 5. If you missed last week’s review you can catch it here!

Fandom Game Club, A Way Out, Continuing Act III on Fandom’s Twitch
Last week Bailey and I ended on a “about to go do a robbery” note. At this point Vincent (the character I’m controlling) sure is doing a lot of crime for someone who wrongfully went to prison…
Other Projects of Mine to Check Out
Spoiler Alert - ‘God of War’ on Fandom
A lot of what I do for my job is sponsored videos for clients that essentially are paying for ad placement. Often they’re small, cost effective catalogue offerings, featuring B-roll and voice over…and then there are projects like this. Spoiler Alert! is a 4 episode series I produced for the FDA early this past summer and, with God of War: Ragnarök having just been released, this one feels appropriate to signal boost this week.
Something Blue
I had the good fortune of voting for Barack Obama during the second Presidential Election in which I was able to vote. This inspired an ongoing investment in U.S. Politics from the time I was 22. So I’d like to detour from my usual gaming and pop culture lane to say how proud I am of the 22 year olds who got out there to vote in the Midterms. Voters 18-29, people of color, and especially women of color are the reason Democracy has been renewed for another season. Moscow Mitch can take his proposed abortion ban and choke on it.
Additionally, we have an incredible opportunity to not need Sinema and Manchin to back progressive bills in the Senate. Not mention keeping a smart, progressive senator in office in the Georgia runoff on December 6th. If you haven’t seen this TikTok of Pastor Jamal Bryant popping off about why Herschel Walker sucks - I highly recommend it. As an atheist, I promise it will resonate, even if religion is not your jam.
Also, if you have a few dollars to spare, consider donating them to Raphael Warnock’s reelection campaign. With the caveat that, if you do, you WILL get about 25 emails a day asking you for more money. And some of the subject lines are a little aggressive.
Would Have Been a Tweet
Was there supposed to be a twist in ‘Don’t Worry Darling’? I thought that one was clear from the advertising…
Love that Forever 21, H&M, and Uniqlo are all on the same floor, by themselves. at the Beverly Center. It’s like ‘poor people, right this way’.
Weekly Pet Rankings
Nice Pet of the Week: Light
Only woke me up because he wanted attention once. Did not sit and yell by the baby gate. One of his quietest weeks since he discovered the sound of his own voice at four months. Knocked over one cup but it was plastic and empty.
Medium Pet of the Week: Coco
Mostly tried to hunt squirrels, not other people’s dogs. Smacked her dad in the head two times in a row (by accident). Still very concerned about the existence of other dogs in the neighborhood. Listening skills decline in inclement weather.
Naughty Pet of the Week: L
Refused to acknowledge the end of Daylight Saving Time. Walked on humans multiple times in the night. Screamed and tried to breakdown doors at 7am every morning demanding breakfast. May or may not have pooped on the floor (that was kind of the humans’ fault).
