You know the old saying “being an adult is saying ‘but after this week, things will calm down a bit’ over and over until you die?” I believe Twitter was the origin of this particular piece of wisdom. That’s how my previous week and my rest of December are looking. Just as I’m hearing the siren song of Winter Break a brand comes through with money to make a version of a project I’ve been wanting to make for a long while. So I suddenly find myself weirdly energized to get all the pieces in place and finish the year strong (though a lot of the work on this will be in 2023). It’s very strange to be hustling to crew a shoot on the 5th of December in a city that basically shuts down after Thanksgiving. December 15th at the latest.

Ask Gamers
Ah the last vestiges of VENN - hence the horrific image quality on this thumbnail because who knows the the original file ended up! We experimented with so many fun shows that just never got the marketing support they needed to draw in an audience. I recently revisited this one when I wanted to send a recommendation to our post production supervisor at Fandom for the wildly talented Jared Nunn, who edited this along with several episodes of the infamous Thirsty Thursday. Ask Gamers was a really sweet series where we offered advice on whatever was on Discord Chatters minds.
The Old Internet
Everyone’s favorite dog stepfather, my neighbor and dear friend Mark Ellis, filmed his second hour special this weekend at Dynasty Typewriter, which is one of the coolest comedy venues in L.A. featuring canned beers from the amazing, local Paperback Brewing company in Glendale (I linked to their instagram so you can see their killer can art!). Got to see a lot of old Collider and SchmoesKnow pals – and, word on the street is, I actually would have seen more had I gone to the second show. But then I wouldn’t be in this photo Coy took. Really grateful to have been involved in those channels during their heydays. Even if we’ve all been left firmly in “Web 2” as Josh Macuga put it. I swear I’m gonna actually make TikToks on a regular basis eventually…

PSA: Just discovered that the seasonal Target birds have names and those of you who have the seasonal Target birds know exactly what I’m talking about.
How do I get to be one of the people who makes the cute animal Holiday Specials for Hulu?
Unpopular opinion: I like read receipts.
Weekly Pet Rankings
Nice Pet of the Week: Light
No notes. Just good vibes and snugs.
Medium Pet of the Week: L
Was on track to get nice pet this week, until he tried to play with mom as if she were a cat and bit her elbow (not HARD, but it was a very intentional bite).
Naughty Pet of the Week: Coco
Oh dear, this dog. Ran laps around the coffee table. Whined like she wanted to go outside. Wanted to eat all other dogs when she did. Still wild upon return. Climbing on outside furniture to see over the patio wall to survey her kingdom. Absolutely zero chill.
